Heirloom Black Beauty Eggplant Seeds Planting Instructions

  • Black Beauty Eggplant seeds prefer warm, rich soil and full sun.
  • Sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before the last anticipated frost date. Plant 1/4 inch deep in deep flats or cells. Keep soil temperature around 80°F or greater.
  • Transplant outdoors once warm weather returns and soil temperature is around 60°F or greater.
  • Set transplants 18 to 24 inches apart in rows 30 to 36 inches apart.

    Heirloom Black Beauty Eggplant Harvesting Instructions

    Black Beauty Eggplant is ready for harvest in approximately 73 to 80 days when fruits have full shine and color.

    Check maturity by pressing thumb against skin, if fruit does not spring back it is ready for harvest.

    Use garden shears to cut the stems from the plant instead of pulling them.
